6 Days Sahara trip in Morocco – Fes to Marrakech

On this 6 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech, your visitarmorruecos driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Fes at 08:00 am. The journey south to the Merzouga Sahara desert will take you through diverse and stunning landscapes, from the Mediterranean near Fes to an alpine forest in Ifrane and rocky mountains to the sand dunes.
Along the way, you'll make stops in notable places like Azrou, known for its forests and Barbary monkeys, and the Cedar Gouraud Forest with its towering 35-meter cedar tree. You'll also drive through the mountain city of Midelt, known as the Moroccan apple capital, and the Ziz Valley with its millions of palm trees in the Tafilalet grove.
Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will embark on a Camel Adventure to reach the Berber Desert Camp Merzouga, where you'll spend the night camping. The camel ride takes about 1:30 hours, with a break on top of a sand dune to witness the sunset and try sandboarding (optional). You'll be welcomed at the camp with a glass of mint tea and will have time to relax before dinner. During the evening, you'll experience traditional Berber drumming, gaze at the starry sky, and connect with nomads over campfires and cultural exchanges. You'll then retire to a private nomadic tent for the night.

On this day, join us for a 4WD Morocco Sahara Adventure as we delve into the depths of the Sahara Desert. Our journey will follow the path of the famous Paris-Dakar Rally until we reach the Ouzina palms, where we will pause for tea and experience the welcoming hospitality of a Berber family.
Next, we will visit the Ramlia Village, known as the pearl of the Sahara Desert. Here, you can immerse yourself in the local culture and marvel at the unique landscape that defines this area.
Finally, we will make our way to Tafraoute Sidi Ali for an overnight stay in a traditional Riad. This will give you a chance to relax, recharge, and soak in the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding desert.

On the third day of our 6-day desert adventure from Fes, we will embark on a journey across the reg, a unique stone desert pavement that offers an otherworldly lunar landscape with vast expanses of dark stones stretching into the horizon. During our trip, we will visit several Berber villages where the residents still live in traditional nomad tents, and make a stop by the tranquil Maider Lake. From there, we will make our way to Mcissi via Tizi-N-Tifrkhinn and arrive at the Todra Valley and Gorge. Our journey continues to the Dades Valley where we will spend the night in a cozy riad.

Today, as part of our 6-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech, we will be driving through the Dades Valley and into the Roses Valley towards the city of Ouarzazate. We will take the road of a thousand Kasbahs, giving us plenty of opportunities to take pictures and admire the beautiful landscapes. During our journey, we will stop at the Roses Valley, also known as Kellat Magouna. Here, we will explore the area and its famous attractions. On our way to Ouarzazate, we will visit the Amridil Kasbah, one of the last Berber chieftains' residences during the 18th century. This historical site is now home to many Glaoui people. We will also have the chance to visit the Studio and other attractions in Ouarzazate city. Our tour will continue with an overnight stay in the city.

On the fifth day of our 6 Day Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech, we will start from Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Then, after driving 27 km, we will reach the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has been used as the backdrop for several Hollywood movies like "Lawrence of Arabia", "Gladiator", "Kingdom of Heaven", "Prince of Persia" and many more. This kasbah reflects the exotic Moroccan architecture and culture.
Next, we will embark on a journey through the High Atlas Mountains and stop at the Tichka Pass, which offers breathtaking views of the magnificent mountain range. Our destination for the night is a guest house located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains in Imlil Berber village. This will be a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of the region.

On the final day of our 6-day tour from Fes to Marrakech via the Sahara and Atlas, we will delve into the Atlas Mountains, specifically exploring the Imlil village. This picturesque settlement is located in the foothills of Toubkal, the highest mountain in Morocco, and serves as a starting point for treks and hikes up Toubkal, as well as a hub for hiring mountain guides and mules.
From Imlil, we will embark on a 40-minute mule ride towards the south, to the Berber village of Aroumd, located in the upper-level foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains. At Aroumd, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in a traditional Berber home, before taking a short walk in the surrounding areas.
On our return journey to Marrakech, we will visit the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the Berber village of Asni, which is famous for its weekly market held every Saturday. Our tour will conclude in Marrakech in the late afternoon, having experienced the diverse beauty and cultures of Morocco's desert and mountains.
